“Calling All Boats”Although audiences today tend to want short messages, visitors to this exhibit stayed in place for up to four minutes without taking their eyes from the posters.
The subject was the response to the call that went out to all vessels in and around New York Harbor after the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center.
Crews responded by evacuating as many people as possible and fireboats found new ways to use on-board hoses to get water from the river to the scene. Seemingly impossible problems were resolved and told in inspiring recordings that will not be forgotten by visitors to the exhibition.
